Young Boaters
Our Chesapeake Bay Chapter has an ongoing commitment to engage children of all ages in maritime history, skills and activities. Here are some of our annual programs and events:
-
- Sea Scouts (Ship #759—Baltimore, MD)
Founded in the United States in 1912, Sea Scouts are the maritime branch of the senior division of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). Sea Scouting welcomes boys and girls from 14 through 20 years of age and the goal is to build character, citizenship and leadership through seamanship.
The Sea Scouts at our June show represent several units called ships. They are from the various Boy Scout Councils within the Chesapeake Sea Scout Flotilla, which in turn is one of six flotillas within the Sea Scout Fleet of the Northeast Region of the BSA. Additional information can be found at www.seascout.org.
Sea Scout Ship 361 is out of Marriottsville, Maryland in Howard County and meets every Tuesday at 7:00 PM. Ship 361 uses sailboats for their water activities.
