Well-Known Jazz Band Performs June 18 at Our 29th Boat Festival
Drew Nugent will lead the Midnight Society jazz band ensemble in performances throughout Saturday afternoon of the 2016 Boat Festival
This year our Boat Festival attendees will be treated to Drew Nugent & the Midnight Society performing live jazz on Saturday, June 18 from 1-5 pm on the Miles River-front decks of CBMM’s At Play on the Bay exhibition building. This popular group of jazz musicians brings back the days of hot and traditional jazz with their syncopated tempos and fiery improvisations.
Drew Nugent—the ensemble’s versatile leader—plays piano, trumpet and vocals. He's also a jazz composer, with influences primarily spanning from Fats Waller and Jelly Roll Morton to Gershwin, Berlin, and the great Walter Donaldson. Drew has appeared at Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center, Garrison Keillor’s “A Prairie Home Companion,” on the Delta Queen and Mississippi Queen Steamboats, and the Governors Island Jazz Age Lawn Party in New York City.
